A new Club Pilates location will open in Pelham Manor in mid-September offering reformer-based Pilates classes. The location at 812 Pelham Parkway will be a part of the world’s largest network of Pilates studios using reformers.
A reformer is a piece of equipment that features a frame that resembles a bed with a flat platform within called the carriage that rolls back and forth on wheels. The reformer uses springs to increase resistance and help build strength.
The Manor studio will be the fourth owned by Heather Rhyu, an Irvington resident, who also operates locations in Scarsdale, Ardsley and New Rochelle.
“I chose Pelham Manor because it’s a great community that is far enough away from my other locations,” said Rhyu.
Club Pilates will not only provide daily group lessons but will also offer private sessions every day of the week. The class schedule can be found on their website.
“Pilates is about core strength, lengthening, strengthening, toning, posture and flexibility,” said Rhyu. “If you are brand new to reformer Pilates, we suggest taking the free beginner 30-minute intro class to get introduced to the studio, equipment and find out what Pilates is all about. Our goal is to bring Pilates to the masses to make it both more accessible and more affordable.”
